Subject leads and named writers
Lelfy publishes topic guides in ten school subjects. Each subject has a lead from the 15 person editorial desk. The desk is made up of former classroom teachers and former practitioners. Its members include an analytical chemist, a systems administrator, an economic analyst, a hydrologist, a careers counsellor and a software engineer.
The person who writes a guide is named on it. The same rule applies to every article. The name identifies the member of the desk responsible for the work. This applies across a library of 227 topic guides and about 75 articles. It also makes the writer distinct from the second person who reads the work before publication.
The second read
Every guide and article is read by a second person on the desk before it is published. That person is also named on the work. The desk uses one house style guide, so the guides follow the same editorial approach and read consistently.
The editor in chief owns the house style guide and the review process. The second read is part of that process. Each published guide and article therefore records the person who wrote it and the second person who read it before publication.
